6 Billion Yuan Investment! Gulang’s 40,000-Ton Used Lithium Battery Recycling Project Breaks Ground
With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, the battery recycling sector is experiencing a surge in demand. Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Gansu ChenYue YuChen New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. project in Tumen Industrial Park. With a total investment of 600 million yuan, the project will establish a zero-carbon resource regeneration industrial park, capable of processing 40,000 tons of used lithium batteries annually. This marks a key step in the development of the new energy and new materials industry cluster in Gulang County.
Project Construction Site
Covering an area of 57,000 square meters, the project is scheduled for completion and operation by December 2025. Integrating battery reuse, material regeneration, and energy storage system development, the facility will have the capacity to process 40,000 tons of retired batteries annually once fully operational. It is expected to generate an annual output value of 1 billion yuan, contribute 60 million yuan in tax revenue, and create over 300 job opportunities.
"We are committed to ensuring top-quality construction and advancing the project with a sense of urgency. Our goal is to have equipment installed and running within the year, injecting strong momentum into the new energy industry cluster in Gulang," said Xin Shaoshuo, the project leader.
Project Overview
Industry serves as a crucial pillar of Gulang’s economic growth. As China enters a peak period of power battery retirement, Gulang County is seizing the opportunity to accelerate breakthroughs in the new energy and new materials sector. The launch of the ChenYue YuChen project not only fills a regional gap in lithium battery recycling but also establishes a complete "recycling-dismantling-regeneration" closed-loop industrial chain. This initiative provides crucial industrial support for achieving China’s "dual-carbon" goals while injecting fresh momentum into the county’s high-quality economic development.
