"King of Ningde" Partners with a State-owned Mega-group to Create a Closed-loop Battery Recycling Industry

On November 22, China Pingmei Shenma Group and CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde, Fujian.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Li Mao, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of China Pingmei Shenma Group; Du Yonghong, Deputy Chief Economist and Chairman of Easpring New Energy; Zeng Yuqun, Chairman and CEO of CATL; and Wu Yingming, Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Chair of the Ecology Committee of CATL. Wang Anle, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Pingmei Shenma Group, and Chen Ling, Regional General Manager and Regional Ecology Committee General Manager of CATL, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.

The two parties will collaborate in equity investment and fund cooperation, jointly exploring innovative investment models and cooperation mechanisms to provide robust financial support and strategic guidance for the development of relevant fields. Leveraging their respective advantages in industries, expertise, and talent, they aim to efficiently integrate resources to promote the development of a new energy storage ecosystem and maximize energy utilization.

In the area of zero-carbon application scenarios, the two parties will work together to build "zero-carbon scenarios," establish a model for "zero-carbon smart parks" in the coal chemical industry, and create a series of high-impact demonstration projects. This collaboration aims to address the challenges and opportunities brought about by climate change.

Moreover, the two parties will cooperate in establishing a closed-loop battery recycling industry, optimizing and integrating supply chains, driving scientific and technological innovation, and promoting the establishment of industry norms and national standards.

China Pingmei Shenma Group is a state-owned mega-group with multiple distinctive industrial chains originating from coal and salt. It operates across regions, industries, and ownership types, ranking among the Top 50 Chinese energy enterprises for three consecutive years.

Looking ahead, CATL and China Pingmei Shenma Group will join forces to build a new energy industrial cluster that features a complete industrial chain system, innovative ecosystems, and sustainable development. Together, they aim to develop the Henan market and contribute to the construction of a “Beautiful Henan,” “Smart Henan,” and “Green Henan.”

CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited), often referred to as the "King of Ningde" due to its headquarters in Ningde, Fujian, and China Pingmei Shenma Group, a large state-owned enterprise. The partnership aims to establish a closed-loop for the battery recycling industry, focusing on promoting sustainability and innovation in energy storage and battery technologies. Through this collaboration, both parties will explore new methods for integrating resources, advancing industry standards, and developing new applications for clean energy.
