The technological upgrade and renovation project for the waste battery crushing process by Ganzhou Highpower has been approved, with a total investment of 12.1 million RMB.

Recently, the project for the technological upgrade and renovation of the waste battery crushing process by Ganzhou Highpower Technology Co., Ltd. has received approval for its Environmental Impact Report from the Ganzhou Municipal Administrative Approval Bureau.

The project, located in the Shuixi Industrial Park within the Zhanggong High-Tech Industrial Zone of Ganzhou City’s Zhanggong District, has a total investment of 12.1 million RMB. Its construction scope and scale include expanding within the company's existing premises without requiring additional land. Within the current crushing workshop, a new oxygen-free shredding and crushing system will be added, capable of processing 10,000 tons of waste batteries annually. In addition, the project will utilize one existing set of waste battery crushing and screening equipment and add two more sets to handle 3,000 tons of waste cathode and anode materials per year. In the current pre-treatment workshop, the waste battery crushing process will be upgraded by introducing new equipment such as double-shaft shredders, crushers, grinders, drum screens, gravity screening machines, induced draft fans, and electric furnaces, enabling the treatment of 5,000 tons of waste batteries annually.

All raw materials for the expansion project will come from upstream enterprises handling end-of-life lithium batteries after cascading use, with no involvement in the cascading use phase itself. The project focuses solely on the front-end pre-treatment of waste lithium batteries, excluding backend hydrometallurgical comprehensive recycling. For valuable materials like metals and graphite, the project will adopt scientific and efficient recovery methods, while ensuring proper disposal of waste products such as separators and electrolytes to achieve environmental benefits.

From a technological perspective, the project employs an automated feeding and enclosed crushing and sorting system. Valuable components are separated through a two-stage process of crushing, screening, magnetic separation, and air separation. The particle size of the crushed electrode material powder is less than 1 mm, ensuring product quality and recovery efficiency. The entire process flow encompasses disassembly, oxygen-free shredding, low-temperature drying, crushing and screening, grinding, and gravity-based separation, forming a complete and efficient waste battery recycling system.

Ganzhou Highpower Technology Co., Ltd., established in September 2010, is one of the pioneering enterprises in China engaged in the recycling and cascading use of waste power batteries from new energy vehicles, as well as the harmless treatment and resource recycling of waste batteries.
